Summer Reflection

Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Berlin… All in one month!

Feeling like my feet have landed on the ground long enough to write a little letter of thanks to all the organizers and dancers who made my South American tour possible: Walter and Jamilah in Mexico city hosted myself alongside Colleena Shakti and Carolena Nericcio for intensive workshops and wonderful shows. Shaman’s Tribe in Natal Brazil ensured I was spoiled rotten with giant avocados, beaches, and Acai topped off with plenty of laughter. The Opa Fest crew in Argentina blew my mind with their dedication to practice, training up to 13 hours each day during the festival. I feel I have made many new dear friends during these travels, thank you all!

Special thanks to Horacio and Beata Cifuentes for making the highlight of my year possible, at the 9th International Oriental Summerfest in Berlin. What a perfect way to end my Summer tour, teaching and participating in workshops as well as shows with some of the most inspiring dancers I know. I enjoyed a week of rehearsals in preparation for the premiere of “A Tribute to Ms Ruth” performed alongside Rachel Brice and Patricia Zarnovican. I also danced the “Dying Swan” solo. Both pieces choreographed by Horacio himself, it was a real honour to be able to perform his works. I look forward to sharing video with you all soon!

Next up I am heading to Toronto with Audra Simmons as part of the Dark Harvest Festival, teaching alongside Heather Stants and Mira Betz, then I head straight to Australia for the first time for workshops and performances at the Tribal and Trance Fest in Sydney. November sees me headed to Copenhagen for SOLD OUT workshops hosted by Tribaldance Denmark… Wheeeeew!

In December I am happily headed back to Berlin with Horacio and Beata Cifuentes for the Tribal Bash! Details for that coming very soon. I will be working with Manca Pavli, Patricia Zarnovican and Tjarda. S’gonna be FUN.

For all those who have been asking about UK based classes, my travel schedule does not currently make weekly classes possible BUT I have set up a series of weekend workshops in Totnes, Devon UK this Oct/Nov/Dec so if you are based in the UK or even passing through from abroad these sessions are the only UK based dates I am booking for the rest of the year. You do not have to take all three sessions, unless you want to! Each class will have repeat and new material.

I have new ethical fair trade t shirts for sale via may website where you will also find full booking details for all the workshops mentioned.

Thank you all for your continued support and see you on the road…That bends

Love and fluff

One Response to “Summer Reflection”

  1. Thank you ever so much for coming to Brazil, Sam!! Please come back, your teachings are precious and your smile makes all those push-ups seem a little less impossible. I hope I can see you again really soon.

    xoxo
