Tribal Fusion Belly Dancing
This tip is all about avoiding distraction.. You could say my posting this is a distraction in itself.. And you would be correct. I should be doing push ups right now.. But when I want to share a practice tip, I have to do so.
So.. How to practice at all when there is so much INTERNET out there?!
Luckily, I found the following methods very helpful in keeping time wasting to a minimum. As you know, I am building a house and a full time self employed dance teacher/performer. Admin seems to take forever and distractions abound with the INTERNET. Here is what I currently use to get work done in the studio.
1. Switch off internet connection/wifi when you clock in for your practice. If that isn’t possible for reasons technical (or will power based) download FREEDOM. It’s amazing. It disables the signal for the amount of time you desire. Sad but true, I need this app in my life to get a good long practice in, distraction free. Try it, you might like it too.
Note: This only works if you leave your smart phone at home!!
2. Download RESCUE TIME. This is also amazing. All time at your computer is recorded and sent to you as a weekly digest. You cannot kid yourself you were on FB for 5 minutes today as it records your productivity and lets you know how many hours were spent where with lots of lovely colourful graphs and charts. Wonderful.
And with that I am going to enable me some FREEDOM right now. See you on the other side.
